5.0 out of 5 stars the story of the irish boer volunteers who fought so bravely, 14 Jan 2001
This is truely a masterpiece, it tells the story of the brave Irishmen of the Mac Bride Brigade who fought for the Boer Republic. They fought for no payment or gain, but for freedom. They fought against the might of the British Empire and came close to beating them. Considered by there enemies as traitors, they were rarely treated as prisoners of war. Those captured knew they would pay the ultimate price for there belief in freedom. They were also pitted against their own countrymen which resulted in some particularly fierce fighting. Anybody interested in millitary history will find this book a very good read and should not put it down, until read front to back. The best book I have read in years. Excellent.........
