About the Author
Karen Livingstone is Curator of the exhibition International Arts and Crafts, and a Research Fellow at the V&A. She is editor with Linda Parry of International Arts and Crafts (2005) and has contributed to several publications, inlcuding Design and the Decorative Arts: Britain 1500-1900 (2001) and the Persistence of Craft (2002).

Written to accompany the V&A's big Arts & Crafts exhibition in 2005, this book has fallen in price from £15 to under four quid in just three years. At under 100 pages, it is terse. Skimming not only the usual British and American material, this book covers Scandinavia and even Japan. So the textual content is stretched thin, making the book suitable only as a first introduction to the subject. If you are already an A&C enthusiast, buy it anyway for the 80+ photographs (and, worthy of the V&A, the snaps are first rate). The objects are not all the usual suspects and many of the foreign pieces were new to me (no fewer than 9 pieces of furniture -- and that's saying something).
