3.0 out of 5 stars So this is ecstacy?, 28 Jan 2004
By Lorraine Buckley "lorraine2" (England) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Bernard O'Mahoney's true story of the rise of the gangs supplying ecstasy and other drugs across the south of England exposes for the first time the intimidation, plain thuggery and murder that accompanies their illegal business.

He reveals how the supply of ecstasy has become the new focus for gangland Britain. Like a latter-day Mafia, these gangs have changed the face of the underworld, and will stop at nothing to ensure that they reap the huge profits the trade provides.

Bernard O'Mahoney was a member of the vicious club security "firm" which gained control of the Essex drugs underworld.

They were responsible for supplying the ecstasy pill that killed Leah Betts - an event which put intense police pressure on the gangs and meant that they turned on themselves.

He was witness to this shocking crime wave that ultimately led to the brutal killing of three Essex gang leaders.'So This is Ecstasy?' is a terrifying expose of the ruthless power struggles that characterize the new violence that is spreading across Britain.
