Swedish translation is the Ultimate Frustration ! Worst book, 29 April 2003
- Swedish translation is the Ultimate Frustration ! Worst book EVER to be encountered !The SAAB 9000 is a fairly complicated piece of machinery , thus terminology becomes crucial in a book w this intent !! I know english pretty well , and , as a dedicated home mechanic I know quite a bit about the different systems in cars ( like hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical and mechanical ) and their terminology - but this book (Swedish) just simply confuses you ! It's extrordinarly lousy !! In fact , it's unvbelievably hard to grasp and utterly bewildering ! I've read numerous technical books and numerous car- and engine-related books and articles , but this one stands out as one of the few - if not the only one - that actually makes you MORE confused AFTER reading it than you were before . >>I'm not out to hang somebody , I just know I'm right here .<< Translation obviously done with dictionary in one hand and nail polish in the other !!! Many items referred to just DOES NOT EXIST !!! There are no such "thingie" ! So you have to GUESS what it's supposed to refer to - the english original would be a LOT easyer , but the overall structure of the book still leaves a lot to be wished for . Pics are neither very helpful , nor sufficient . Electrical wiring diagrams are a pain to read & interpret . This is the worst technical publication I've come across in my 50 years . Sorry ! If I could rate it a "zero" star , I would . >>Still , I'd like to mention that the Hayne's manual for the Volvo 240-series is absolute top class ! VERY good indeed !<< Sadly , the Hayne's 9000 manual isn't even on the map . I could have done it better myself - not to mention the translation . . . Rating : save your money ! DO NOT buy this book ! Comments and questions to me may be mailed to : gunnar.bengtson@telia.com
