4.0 out of 5 stars Lovers Law of the Eternal See-Saw, 13 Feb 2007
This review is from: Love Out of Season (Hardcover)
On the surface this is a romantic comedy, but it's also a study of love about people of all generations. Yes, it's feel good, and sometimes very funny. But there are also questions asked about what love is and why we need it, when Amy, a novelist who's having an affair, goes into hiding from the Press and reflects on the see-saw nature of love. On the see-saw of love it's always better for one partner than for the other. I think we all know that. It made me laugh and it made me cry.

5.0 out of 5 stars Romance on the run, 10 Mar 2007
This review is from: Love Out of Season (Hardcover)
Set aside a day for this, you won't want to leave it till tomorrow. Connolly proves himself a master story-teller as he guides his characters through their search for love and happiness. He writes about everyday people, people we can recognise from our own lives, and he makes you cry, he makes you laugh, and he nearly breaks your heart. But love triumphs, as it must, and by the last page you begin to feel the world's not a bad place to be after all.

5.0 out of 5 stars Thought provoking sentiments about love., 13 Mar 2007
This review is from: Love Out of Season (Hardcover)
I enjoyed Ray's book very much. My kind of story.
He handled the priest and nun story very sensitively and beautifully. The other threads had the right amount of surprise and anticipation to make it a real page turner.
Ray's easy flow of language keeps the story moving while giving rise to thought provoking sentiments about love at various times in peoples' lives.
