5.0 out of 5 stars Superb Special Forces thriller, 10/10 read., 16 Nov 2009
By Red (Liverpool) - See all my reviews

This review is from: Who Dares Wins (Hardcover)
This one is a great tale, written along a slightly different track from the previous novels. The story of brothers, Sam and Jacob Redman, both of them well established members of The Regiment. The relationship between them and their colleagues is well crafted by the author, as they fight alongside each other and watch each other's backs. The plot follows the brothers when one of them is ejected from the Regiment for a moment of madness, following his departure, he disappears. Sam`s world is thrown into disarray when he is sent into another dangerous operation and it becomes clear that the unit is not being told the truth by their Senior Commanders. It tests his loyalty to the Regiment when his brother Jacob appears to be part of the problem. A well written Special Forces novel, and a ten out of ten thriller. The new McNabb book, Exit Wound Exit Woundis well worth a read, and new Special Forces writer Conrad Jones is writing some absolute crackers, try Blister (Soft Target Series). The new David Baldacci novel is a good read too. First Family

5.0 out of 5 stars Brotherly love, 27 Nov 2009

(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Who Dares Wins (Hardcover)
Chris Ryan is back with a book that illustrates his true talents. There can be no denying Ryan's technical expertise, after all he has been there, done it and loaded the MP5 and therein lies his strength, a sense of realism usually shines through. The book actually harks back to the "them and us" period in history where Tom Clancy was at his best but also adds another facet, a family dimension.
For those of you who like lots of action, adventure and can put up with some gory moments then I would recommend this book wholeheartedly!

5.0 out of 5 stars SAS Masterpiece, 4 Feb 2010
This review is from: Who Dares Wins (Hardcover)
A very believable story line, which captivates your interest from the start and holds it throughout the book. The novel is threaded with mystery and intrigue that creates a desire to read on. I will not give away the story line, as unravelling it yourself is part of the fun. It made me cry at the end. Why? Because Chris Ryan creates such depth to his characters that we feel empathy for them. There has got to be a movie in the pipeline. Can't wait.

I really liked Chris Ryan, but the last two or three books he's done haven't been up to his usual high standard. Read more
