5.0 out of 5 stars Last Seen in Lhasa, 19 Nov 2006
By J. Gill (Perth, Western Australia) - See all my reviews

I had the privelege of reading Claire Scobie's beautiful book while escorting a group of Australians through Tibet for my company, The Travel Directors. I can honestly say it enhanced my journey and by the end of our trip most of the group had either read my copy or the other two which were circulating. Their reaction was similar to mine. 'Last Seen in Lhasa'is a wonderfully written and moving account of the author's extraordinary friendship with a nomadic Tibetan nun. I recommend it unreservedly and have put it top of the essential reading list for my Himalayan tour groups. A very special book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Kindness and a deep listening..., 25 Jul 2007
By I. Losada "Isabel Losada" (London) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
A little slow at first until I realised that the fact that I found it slow said more about my life in London than about Claire's remarkable book. A great choice for all Tibet fans - this book shows clearly the extent of the religious persecution in Tibet right now. A gentle and spiritual book that speaks of kindness and listening without preaching. Read and savour every page... enjoy the moment... there is the magic of this narrative. Enjoy it before this book, and the life in Tibet which it describes, ends. An amazing achievent by Claire Scobie.
