Product Description

Synopsis

Torchwood is protecting the Earth against alien threats in the 21st Century - the time when everything changes. Created by Russell T Davies and starring John Barrowman as Captain Jack Harkness, Eve Myles as Gwen Cooper, Burn Gorman as Owen Harper, Naoko Mori as Toshiko Sato and Gareth David-Lloyd as Ianto Jones, "Torchwood" is dark and gritty, rain soaked and blood drenched, sexy and thrilling. Its first season covered subjects as diverse as a sex-addicted alien mist, a powerful Cyberwoman, a telepathy-inducing pendant, an invisible man and alien Weevils. In this, the first factual book to be published on the series, noted TV historian Stephen James Walker charts the story of Torchwood, complete with character profiles, cast and production team information, behind-the-scenes details and a comprehensive guide to each of the 13 episodes, looking at the key elements and the many links to Doctor Who that permeate the show. "Inside the Hub" is every fan's one-stop guide to the secret world of Torchwood.

4.0 out of 5 stars A good starters guide to Torchwood, 30 Mar 2007

This review is from: "Torchwood" Inside the Hub: The Unofficial and Unauthorised Guide to "Torchwood" Series 1 (Paperback)
Torchwood - Inside the Hub is an excellent guide to the Torchwood series. It covers everything from a detailed guide to each of the episodes, how the series was actually developed, bits of insight into each of the characters and the actors who play them, a small section covering the books that have so far been released and how critics responded to the series once it had actually aired.

The book is written from the viewpoint of a even minded fan, rather than an actual critic. It is written with love and care by someone who clearly loves Torchwood but who also knows that there's room for improvement.

The only down side to this book is that there aren't any photos or pictures, so anyone buying this book with the hope of seeing lots of pretty pictures is going to be in for dissapointment.

5.0 out of 5 stars An interesting read indeed..., 24 Mar 2008

As a Torchwood fan anything written about this fantastic show is always of interest to me. I never used to be into sci-fi but once Doctor Who was back on our screens...shortly followed by Torchwood...I was hooked. I like this book because it offers indepth analysis of the show from a fans point of veiw. There are no pictures but it doesn't make the book any less interesting for Torchwood fans. Stephen James Walker does have a geniune talent for writing this sort of book. Overall, this book is worth having in your collection if you're a fan of Torchwood because it looks at everything and it was a most interesting read. I must now wait patiently until October when he releases his 2nd book which looks at Torchwood series 2.

1.0 out of 5 stars Questionable?, 9 Sep 2008
This review is from: "Torchwood" Inside the Hub: The Unofficial and Unauthorised Guide to "Torchwood" Series 1 (Paperback)
As a TW fan, I got this book and couldn't finish it. First of all the size of the font made it difficult to read. The amount of quotes from the actual eps, and other sources including websites/personal blogs made it seem a mis-matched book with very choppy writing.

I was excited when I first got this book but very disappointed when I started reading. I would not buy from this authour again but wait for the 'official' versions.
