Product Description

Drawn from right across the entire "Star Wars" saga, this incredible bumper collection spotlights characters and situations from Episode I, right through to Episode VI and beyond. Each story travels from the far reaches of the empire to places both familiar and unknown: the Ewok home planet of Endor, the dunes of Tatooine, to the Wookie home world of Kashyyyk - and features fan favourites Darth Maul, Boba Fett, Wedge Antilles, and a host of original "Star Wars" characters. Steeped in the 'ifs', 'buts', and 'maybes' of the "Star Wars Universe", this spectacular collection will satisfy the curiosity of any self-respecting fan of "The Force"!

5.0 out of 5 stars The FSFH Book Review says:, 23 Mar 2006
By Ian Tapley "thefragrantwookiee" - See all my reviews
(TOP 500 REVIEWER)    (REAL NAME)
The previous five collected volumes of 'Star Wars: Tales' were what's known to us fans (geeks) as 'Infinities', meaning that they are not considered part of the official continuity.

That's all different here, with only one of the ten stories falling into that catagory ('Fett Club' which is mildly amusing but detracts from the book as a whole).

The entire Star Wars saga is covered here, beginning with two stories that link into the events of the 'Knights of the Old Republic' computer games. The first of these, 'Shadows And Light', tells about the Great Hunt for the terentatek monsters and is my favourite story of the book.

Other stories highlight such characters as Darth Maul, a Clone Commando, Wedge Antilles and an Imperial pilot.

The longest and most intelligent story is the four part 'Nomad' which tells the story of a suspect Jedi and an amnesiac dark sider and is all about perception.

A final mention goes to 'Equals And Oposites' (written by fan-turned-Star Wars VIP, Nathan Butler) which features the hero of the Dark Force and Jedi Knight games, Kyle Katarn as he fights the menace of the Yuuzhan Vong.

This is a great anthology and it's just a shame that after 'Tales' became in-continuity, the series was ended so there won't be any more like this.

3.0 out of 5 stars A Curious Collection, 6 Jun 2009
By G. Allison (Glasgow UK) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Rather like the comic, the trade paperbacks of Star Wars Tales are an odd collection of stories that share very little in common with one another. Earlier volumes contained stories that can be politely regarded as "Infinities" - in other words, they are just to be read for fun and have no established place in Star Wars canon. Volume 6, however, is different in this regard, with just one of the stories faling into the "infinities" category.

Other reviewers have commented on the qualities of the individual episodes and by and large I agree with them. Some are good, some are little more than fillers. My personal favourite is "Shadows and Light", but I'm an Old Republic fan so that's hardly surprising. That said, I was really disappointed with the other OR story, "Unseen, Unheard", which apart from being well drawn offers little to the reader. The other stand-out story is the four-part "Nomad" which really is terrific.

As for the rest? Read them, enjoy them, but if you're like me you probably won't pick them up again. And that's why I've only given the collection 3 stars. It's good... but there are other, better collections out there.

5.0 out of 5 stars good stuff for any star wars fan, 28 Dec 2007
By D. Stoddart "the rickenbacker plays" (London,UK) - See all my reviews

I read alot of comic books but always somehow missed the star Wars Tales. These collections are pricey but worth every penny. I'm almost loathe to finish it,even the joke story "Fett Club" has an excellent touch. My favourite is "Nomad",a simply incredible tale of loss and redemption.
Brilliant.
