Dan Parsons has worked mainly in independent comics, including the acclaimed Stranger Kisses and Prophet.

THE STORY:
Several linked ones, in fact. In the first Mace Windu decides the Jedi can no longer tolerate the bounty being placed on their heads and takes a team to put a stop to it. Anakin and Obi-Wan are teamed with a beautiful young Padawan for a dangerous mission in the second story. The third features Aayla Secura on a mission on Honoghr, where she encounters her former mentor, Quinlan Vos, who had turned to the dark side. Finally, as a Republic fleet faces off against the Dreadnaughts of Rendili, Obi-Wan encounters Quinlan and tries to return his old friend to the Jedi Order.

WHAT'S GOOD:
This is a great little collection of stories with plenty of action and tension, as well as Quinlan's continuing battle with the darkness inside himself. I particularly enjoyed seeing Obi-Wan and Quinlan fight side by side against their bitter enemies Tol Skorr and Asajj Ventress. There's also a great lightsaber duel between Ventress and Anakin on Coruscant, where a little bit of Darth Vader sneaks out. There's also quite a bit here for the fans, be it the Noghri or the appearance of Episode III characters such as General Grievous and Clone Commander Bly.

WHAT'S BAD:
Quinlan Vos' brooding character and looks do occasionally wear on me. Yes, we get it! He's moody and dark; don't keep jamming it in our faces! I was also a bit disappointed by the fact that we don't actually see much of the Battle of Rendili. Finally, reading this after having seen Ep III is a little depressing, knowing that favoured characters like Mace, Aayla and Barriss aren't long for the world (or should that be 'galaxy').
