Product Description

Product Description

Esoteric, eccentric and downright weird, this is the latest offering, wrapped in news and served with chips from one of comics' premier writers! Wetsuited hero Seaguy wants to win the heart of She-Beard, the beautiful Amazon with golden ringlets cascading from her chin. An act of heroism is called for but what to do? Then, hieroglyph-covered bricks begin falling from the moon and the strange new food, Xoo, is being hunted by government gunships! Looks like the chance has come at last for Seaguy and his wisecracking fishy friend, Chubby da Choona! Grant Morrison, legendary writer of such cult smashes as The Filth and Batman: Arkham Asylum, has given the World it's newest and strangest new superhero!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Slaves of Mickey Eye! MORE! I DEMAND IT!, 19 Sep 2006
Not unlike a Saturday morning cartoon in hell. As someone once said. There really isn't anything like this. Whilst there's no outright gore, some of the images leave one distinctly nauseous; something about the brightness, the taste of xoo, the talking fish...this is the comics world gone wrong, not unlike the way that Un Chien Andalou is the movie world gone wrong.

Or is that horribly pretentious? Ah, who cares. Buy it and DC might one day publish the sequel.

4.0 out of 5 stars Dreamstuff 'n' non-sense?, 3 Jul 2008
With the second collected installment somewhere in the comics version of development hell, don't wait too long to snatch this one up. Imagine the movie pitch: Scripted from the lucid dreams of an idiot savant. With the vocabulary of a five-year-old. Raised solely on the works of Robert Anton Wilson and 1950's Marvel comics. Cut up by William S. Burroughs. Special Effects by 'Industrial Drugs and Magick'. Directed by John Waters.
I'd buy that for a dollar!

5.0 out of 5 stars How do they do it?, 31 Mar 2008
This is one of the most puzzling graphics novels I have ever read - it is incredibly emotionally affective but the story makes no sense whatsoever. However the story is very rounded and complete, in no way a weird excursion, which is strange - that is exactly what it is! In the absence of any other theory I can only conclude that this is due to excellent writing combined with slyly subversive artwork. It carries itself completely on intuition, emotional response and feels a bit like a dream. On the artwork, generally I prefer more technique but the illustration so completely complements the context of the story that I cannot imagine it being done any other way. A real masterpiece - maybe one day I'll figure out how it was done!
