About the Author
A City fan since birth and a season ticket holder since the age of 16, Gary is a keen football historian and freelance writer. He cares deeply about the history of football, and has spent many years researching the sport. He is keen to ensure images and stories from the early years of football are preserved and presented for a modern audience. Throughout his life Gary has been particularly interested in seeing City's own history given the attention it deserves, and at the age of 21 he had his first book, From Maine Men To Banana Citizens published. Since then his epic works on the Manchester derby (The Pride of Manchester, 1991), Joe Mercer OBE (Football With A Smile, 1993), City (Manchester The Greatest City, 1997 & 2002), City's grounds (Farewell To Maine Road, 2003), and City's leading players (The Official Manchester City Hall Of Fame, 2005) have all contributed to the rich history of the Blues.
