A turbulent start to the season saw the Pilgrims struggle to find any sort of form. Managerial changes followed and the threat of relegation loomed ominously. Boston finally turned things around and began to secure the victories that would eventually see them retain their place in Division Two, a task that seemed beyond then only weeks earlier. In fact, the improvement was such that a highly unlikely run to the play-offs seemed to be within sight. Unfortunately that form could not be maintained and Boston had to settle for a strong mid-table finish.
