A really well set out book with useful illustrations and clear photography. As a chemistry teacher, I have found the explanations suitable for most secondary school pupils and the real world scenarios are great for showing scientific relevance.
A word of warning: many of the experiments are "repeats" eg making a red cabbage indicator, hurricane in a bottle, coke and mentos, so the book is better for a first purchase than an addition to an experienced "kitchen scientist"'s lab!

Great book for anyone interested in practical science. The authors have a real talent at explaining complex phenomena with very simple sentences and comparisons. I finally understood surface tension and even diffraction (well, sort of, but at least it really got me interested!). And the experiments are very good fun too, although I am not quite sure I will dare to put a packet of crisps in my microwave oven; maybe in my friend's...
I am looking forward to the next book!!! Well done, the naked scientists!

there just never seems to be enough practical science at school so this book for at home certainly fits the bill. Perfect.
