"The Starter Gudies" are aimed at the complete beginner who wants to learn the basics of different aspects of painting. The contents are organised into two main chapters - the first looks at the theory of the subject and teaches techniques; the second, "Practical Exercises", puts these into practice through step-by-step examples and mini exercises. A specially created "Practice Page" allows the reader to consolidate skills learnt in the first chapter, before moving on to complete the main projects. Each book contains 7 practical projects which put into action the skills learnt in the first chapter. "Landscape Painting" takes you through subjects such as painting the sky and clouds, using texture and incorporating light. Interspersed throughout are "Notes on Effects" which focus on the technical aspects used in the painting projects.


About the Author

Gabriel Martin Roig has a degree in Fine Arts from the University of Barcelona and he teaches in various art schools and academies. He wrote the previous Starter Guides in the series, Painting in Oils and Painting in Watercolours (New Holland).
