Product Description

Product Description
It takes a hustler to know one. In his explosive new book, Hustler publisher Larry Flynt lays bare the vast right-wing conspiracy that brought George W. Bush to power four years ago. He shows how democracy has been perverted by what John Kerry described as 'a bunch of lying crooks' - the fundamentally corrupt Bush and his cronies. In an incisive and pithy review of recent history, Flynt demonstrates that the triumph of Bush Junior is the direct result of a thirty-year battle by the reactionary Right to control American hearts and minds. And he reveals the real reasons why the president launched the first pre-emptive war in American history - a true story of sleeping with the enemy. Described as 'the Tom Paine of our time', Flynt has made a second career of defending freedom of speech. Here, he invokes the First Amendment to reveal the unseemly backgrounds of some of the hypocritical politicians who parade as protectors of family values and Christian principles. This racy, engrossing and highly entertaining read will appeal directly to the enormous market for polemics against Bush.

About the Author
Larry Flynt is the founder of Larry Flynt Publications, which publishes more than thirty magazines, including Hustler. He is a popular speaker on the college circuit all over the United States. He lives in Hollywood.

4.0 out of 5 stars I've Been Flynted!, 7 May 2006

If porn king David Sullivan ( founder of 'The Daily Sport' ) were to write a 'scorching expose' of the British Government's handling of the 'Foot & Mouth Crisis', how would you rate his chances of being taken seriously? Here the crippled millionaire publisher of 'Hustle' attempts to skewer Dubya. He lines up all the known facts, adds his own personal views on a wide variety of topics from sex to religion, throws in some autobiographical content and BINGO! You have one red-hot book!

Anyone who saw Milos Forman's brilliant 'The People Vs.Larry Flynt' knows that Larry is no establishment figure. This is, after all, the man who wore a 'XXXX This Court!' T-shirt to an obscenity trial. Parts of this book are hilarious, such as Larry's ongoing feud with Jerry Falwell, but the overall tone is that of naked ( no pun intended ) rage, particularly with regards to Florida 2000 and the aftermath of 9/11. Larry openly admits that most of the book is sourced from other similiar polemics, which would be a serious handicap if they were on sale here in the U.K. This is no 'Stupid White Men' but it pushes all the right buttons. Some will dismiss it as the work of a shameless self-publicist. I found it funny, hard-hitting and entertaining. Pity it didn't do anything to influence the outcome of the last Presidential election.
