Product Description

Product Description

This is a stunning new crime novel from the bestselling author of "The Law Killers". Journalist Campbell McBride's first crime book, "The Law Town Killers", is a success but now it's attracting some unwanted attention. McBride's going to have to return to what, when he wrote about it, seemed like a straightforward murder case - a woman strangled by her boyfriend. Otherwise, somebody he cares about might be at risk. Soon nothing is straightforward - not for McBride. Somebody is cutting up newspaper archives before he can examine them. Are they trying to stop his investigation or are they trying to tell him something? Whether he's being led or obstructed, McBride starts to think that an innocent man is in jail for murder and that there might be something significant about the black tie that was used to throttle the victim. Does it somehow link the crime to the police force? Does it show that the murder was just one in a grisly series of young girls strangled? If McBride can't figure out what exactly has prompted these seemingly senseless, malicious crimes, then another person is due to fall victim to the killer. And this time it might be McBride's turn to suffer at the killer's hands.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic!, 4 Jan 2007
By Ryan (Dundee) - See all my reviews
I read Lawless right after reading The Law Killers and thought it was just fantastic! Coming from Dundee it was weird reading about the places that you knew, but that made it even better for me. For those of you not from Dundee, like my cousins who I gave the book a loan to, also loved it the plot and characters were enough to keep them reading on. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys crime reading, as it will surprise you in more ways that one!

Cant wait for the next in the series from McGregor! If you need more information on the book before buying, go to [....]its fan made website about the books, its pretty good.

Hope you all enjoy Lawless as much as I did!

5.0 out of 5 stars Marvellous, 21 Nov 2006
By Ron Dundee (Scotland) - See all my reviews
What a great first fictional novel by the author. The plot starts off slowly introducing the characters and it's only at about page thirty you get to where you can't put the book down. Read it nearly in one sitting. His next output cannot come soon enough.

5.0 out of 5 stars Simply marvellous --by 'Merry McK' (Renfrew), 9 Jul 2007
By 'Merry' McK (Renfrew, Scotland) - See all my reviews
A superb read. I finished it in two nights and my only disappointment was that it came to an end. The author writes with the tightness you'd expect from a journalist and creates real pace. But he takes time out to produce some beautiful descriptive passages that leaves the reader with a perfect visual picture of where the action is set. I was on the edge of my bed until the last page.
Alexander McGregor also deserves the thanks of female crime fans(there are a lot of us about!)for at last giving us a hero we want to take to bed and not another gritty policeman with dubious hygenic habits. I fancy the pants off investigative reporter Campbell McBride--and so does my mum! Can't wait for his next escapade.

1.0 out of 5 stars Poorly-written 'faction'
Mr McGregor might have written a best-selling 'true crime' book but he certainly can't write fiction. Read more
