Product Description

Product Description

For more than 30 years award-winning nature photographer and environmental journalist, Claes Grundsten has been visiting the Earth's diverse habitats. "Trek!" is not only a visual record, but also a personal account from a walker's perspective of their rugged beauty, and diverse wildlife and plant species. This beautiful book spans the wild mountains, rainforests and deserts of our incredible planet, including not only recognized routes (such as the Inca Trail) and now-popular destinations (such as Mounts Everest and Kilimanjaro, the Grand Canyon and the Rocky Mountains) but also breaking into new territory such as Altai and Khentii in Mongolia.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent book, 30 Dec 2006

Fascinating book. Makes you want to pack your gears and take off for the locations mentioned in the book. The photographs are excellent. In the end of the book is a summary for all the treks covered in the book containing the most vital information about each trek. I recommend this book for anyone interested in the magnificent nature of our world!

2.0 out of 5 stars Lovely photos - but, wot no Karakoram?, 18 Sep 2009

Lovely photographs! And if the title was otherwise the book would've received 3 or more stars!

But considering this book is about the "Best Trekking" in the world - it makes no mention of the Karakoram!!!! (And no Hindu kush)
And the fact that it leaves out the best trekking destination in the world - the Karakoram - means it fails!

3.0 out of 5 stars I was hoping in more practical information, 18 May 2009
By Daniele Biglino "Daniele" (Italy) - See all my reviews

The book is beautiful, and the pictures astounding. The downturn is that all treks are described as personally experienced by the author, and the description does not contain much useful information, apart from the skinny section at the end of the book. I was probably hoping in something different, as I was looking for a comprehensive and more practical guide to world treks.
