Review

"One of the most important and gifted writers of our time." - Italo Calvino

Product Description

Immediately following his release from Auschwitz in 1945, Primo Levi, along with Dr Claudio Debenedetti, was asked to provide a report on living conditions in the concentration camp for Russian authorities. Published the following year, it was then forgotten and has until now remained unknown to a wider public. Representing the very first attempts at fathoming the horrors, the report details the deportation to Auschwitz, selections for work and extermination, everyday life in the camp, and the organization and operation of the gas chambers. "Auschwitz Report" is a significant addition to the oeuvre of the world's most renowned chronicler of the Holocaust.

4.0 out of 5 stars Non medical view of report, 27 Dec 2006
For a non medical person some of the terms used where a little tricky however the bibliography helped. A review of the appalling conditions, illnesses suffered and in-sufficient treatments made available to inmates of one of Auschwitz' camps. I read this prior to reading "If This Is A Man" and "The Truce" by Primo Levi - I think by understanding that what would seem a small injury could be potentially life threatening due to the circumstances being endured, it gave me a better understanding of the following books.
