Product Description

Product Description

Kerry Katona is one of Britain's most talked about celebrities. In recent years, her pictures have never been far from the front pages of newspapers and glossy magazines. Her celebrity lifestyle and tales of her turbulent romances have intrigued the nation and gained her a dedicated fan base. She was one of the original, founding members of Atomic Kitten. In 2001 though, she gave up her lifestyle of fame to start a family. After a spell away from the limelight, Kerry appeared on I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here, where she was crowned 'Queen of the Jungle'. But Kerry's route to fame hasn't always been so glamourous - her childhood was far from idylic - she never knew her father and her mother suffered from manic depression. Kerry was raised by several sets of foster parents and spent years apart from the mother she is now so close to. Just when it seemed that Kerry had her life firmly on track, news broke that her marriage to Westife's Bryan McFadden was over. This is an in-depth look at an extraordinary woman who has battled the odds to win the hearts of the public.

2.0 out of 5 stars Poor Script Proofing, 1 Feb 2006
By Mr. C. Brittain "whitcol" (UK) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I feel that in this country we have a love hate relationship with named celebrities and Kerry is one of those that the media are all over, indulging in their best to credit then discredit? As a story of Kerry's life it is a little vague in places but it still manages to put across what she has endured. I feel that pressure from the media doesn't really help her very much.

As a general book I find this a little difficult to actually rate because the end product is far from ideal. I am approximately half way through the book and I have to say that it is my opinion that the publisher has let Kerry down badly.

Whoever was responsible for proof reading the manuscript must have surely been having a bad week as the para phrasing is utterly deplorable in places. Many sentences simply make no sense and the way selected words have been used and edited make it, for me an amateurish book.

I would say it is a book for a general read but if like me you find some of the proofing annoying, you may well struggle to actually hold interest long enough to finish reading the book. If there is any follow up I would urge Kerry to look at alternative publishers or ask for a different and / or more intense proof reading of any future manuscript.

2.0 out of 5 stars Poorly written long magazine article, 8 Mar 2006
When i saw that Kerry had a biography out i was really excited, as not only am i a biography fan but am also quite fond of Kerry herself. I didnt take me long however to realise that this wasnt like any biography i have ever read before, it is just like one long magazine article. There are quotes from friends and family which are just put in to try and back up stories, and a number of these are quoted more than once in the book!!

I love Kerry as much as any fan and i think that to come through her childhood and the things she has been through is admirable, but there was really no need for the author to be so complimentary towards her and be so sickly sweet about everything - it got tiresome.

Above everything, the book was overall badly written with spelling mistakes and gramatical errors throughout.

I enjoyed the book but i was disaapointed by the story telling nature and lack of emotion or honest opinion. I was starting to think towards the end that Kerry maybe didnt have anything to do with this book and somebody had taken it upon themselves to write it - it is that bad that i wouldnt be surprised if she didnt get to read it before it was published.

I think if you are a Kerry fan like me you will enjoy the book and maybe even learn a thing or two, but dont expect the honesty, emotion or in-depth stories that you often find in biographies.

2.0 out of 5 stars Published Terrible - A few untruths, 3 Feb 2006
By A Customer
I was quite enjoying this book untill i noticed, lots of spelling mistakes such as on Pg 130 “he continued to proclaim his love for Kerry in public, as well as dong everything he could behind the scenes to make up for it” and Pg 246 “she was saying Kerry and I split because because I couldn’t cope with her” These 2 are just a few of the mistakes through out this book also on pg 84, it says “He went to Lillie’s Bordello that Saturday night and with Moby from U2 on the piano, he sang a range of traditional Irish melodies”. As Moby is a singer in his own right and has never played the piano for U2, I wonder just how much of this book is actually true. I wouldn't recommend this book at all, and if it is only the publishers misprints, then this is a shame for Kerry as the book makes her look stupid.
