Product Description

Product Description
Beads have been used for decoration for centuries. Available in a huge array of colours, shapes and sizes, they are beautiful, adaptable, and easy to work with. These practical projects show how you can add detail, texture, colour and originality to garments and accessories by incorporating beads into your knitting, crochet and needlework. Learn traditional and contemporary techniques such as bead weaving, stringing, wirework and strand-knotting, and even find out how to make your own beads.

About the Author
Sara Withers has worked with beads for many years, as a collector and maker. Her jewelry is sold in galleries, shops, and at exhibitions throughout the United Kingdom. She also enjoys teaching bead- and jewellery-making, and lecturing on all aspects of bead history. She is the author of five books on beadwork.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great introduction to beading techniques, 23 Aug 2007
By K. Johansson (Sweden) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I bought this book as an intermediate beader after hearing many good words about it. And I do find it's a great book for beginners to learn new techniques from stringing to seed beading and wire crochet. Not a book for people looking for different projects, but exactly what it claims to be: an encyclopedia to use as reference for learing. A starting point for new beaders that I would recommend.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic introduction, 7 Aug 2007
By J. SAMMELLS - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This was my first book about beading, and it gave me the courage to try the vast range of techniques shown. The information is set out clearly, and is well illustrated.
An inspirational gallery is included at the back - it will make you want to create something just as beautiful.
An absolute must for anyone wanting to know how and where to start with a few beads. Buy it.
