4.0 out of 5 stars bryan adams forever, 31 Mar 2008

another audio adventure for paul mgcann's doctor who and his current companion, feisty northern girl lucie miller, played by sheridan smith. Like all the others in this current run this is a one part story complete in just over forty five minutes.

The story involves the tardis arriving in a small town in sussex. and the tardis crew quickly find all is not right. tims is standing still here, and nothing has changed since 1991. A local girl has gone missing.

What is the mystery of the town?

and the armored personnel carriers that keep appearing.

Not going to say too much about the plot because you won't immediately suspect what is going on here and it's a real pleasure to see how this story unfolds, taking a good few twists and turns on the way. long term fans will find a novel use of something established here that will appeal. The supporting cast are all very good, and again one of the strengths of these is the superb chemistry paul mcgann and sheridan smith have together. lucie does get a little sidelined in the second half of the story into the more usual companion role of making comments and asking questions but she does it so well she's still very appealing.

There's no story arc - yet - in this current batch of audios so you can pick it up without having listened to the previous ones.

as usual the disc ends with 19 minutes of interviews with cast and crew, and a trailer for the next story in the range.

and to avoid spoilers you might want to not read the inlay till after hearing the story, as there is something there in one comment that could give things away.

another fun entry in an enjoyable range

4.0 out of 5 stars Surprisingly haunting, 24 May 2009

Without giving away the superb plot twists, this is a multi-layered story showing once again how it is the small things that make the strangest stories - you don't need to always be in the big cities to tell a big story.

Set (amongst other things) in a mysterious sea-side resort stuck in the 80s, with the fall of communism as a back drop and the most unusual newspaper round, you find yourself reflecting back on this story many months later and revel in the treatment of an alien previously used only as a baddie!
