3.0 out of 5 stars Singularly underwhelming, 2 April 2009

Singularity features the Fifth Doctor and his companion the enigmatic public schoolboy Turlough. Writer James Swallow can usually be relied upon to produce something interesting but this is really very ordinary. I though more could have been done with Turlough, who has the potential to be a complicated and intriguing character, but in all three of his Big Finish outings he doesn't seem to have developed at all from the faintly sullen and devious character we first met in the TV story 'Mawdryn Undead'.
The story is set in Moscow in the fairly near future, and The Doctor and Turlough come across the mysterious Somnus Foundation, otherwise known as 'The Sleepers'.
While the performances from the cast are pretty good, I just couldn't engage with the story and would have to say that it's not worth bothering with unless you are a completist.

5.0 out of 5 stars future comes back to haunt us, 24 May 2006

Another audio adventure for the fifth doctor, paired on this occasion with travelling companion turlough. Mark Strickson who plays turlough isn't available to do these very often due to work commitments, so it's nice to hear him again.

The tardis lands in 21st century moscow, on the track of strange readings from a building. the setting is very well realised on audio, and you can imagine you're in a cold city just by listening to it. Teaming up with a lady who is on the track of her brother, who has joined a religious cult based in the building, the doctor promptly finds a deadly threat to the future of the human race.

A superb entry in the series, this. It's good strong science fiction, the supporting cast are all excellent and add good depth to their roles. Particularly those of them with east european accents, which adds the required flavour to the play. The story takes a few interesting twists and turns, and pays off big time in the later episodes when the threat comes into play.

The villains dialogue is a little cliched at times, but that is a minor quibble. This is an excellent doctor who audio that is a great piece of genuine science fiction as well. And you will not forget the last scene in a hurry
