Product Description

Product Description
What is politics? How does Parliament work? Is the great British democracy even a true democracy? And why are politicians such massive liars? Humorous and entirely biased, this book provides the information that teenagers really want - and need - to know. Complete with equally irreverent footnotes and a 'Get Involved' section with a list of websites and further reading, this fresh and entirely readable book is essential for a generation disillusioned by modern politics. Michael Moore, beware!

5.0 out of 5 stars Finally, a no-nonsense readable guide to politics, 26 April 2007
By H. Willis (Wellington College, Berks UK) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This is a truly interesting and informative read, and leaves any young apathetic reader truly knowledgeable about the modern political environment in the UK... and the behind-the-scenes dodgy dealings as well.

Bali speaks his mind about issues such as immigration, the Iraq War, political parties and the electoral system, the integrity of the UK media and more, with such tasteful cynicism that Paul Merton himself would be proud. The book also leaves the reader with many other routes of enquiry in order to pursue any areas further, should a particular aspect be of interest.

Thoroughly recommended for all those stereotypical teenagers like myself - this will undoubtedly change your mind about modern politics.

4.0 out of 5 stars Simple and effective guide to politics, 1 Jan 2009
By Mr. M. A. Webb - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
simply a great informative book that discusses how politics work in the UK, who has power, why and how we are all affected by it.

Admitantly part of its content is based on Bali Rai's own opinions on politics, so it is biased but still a very good book, this does though put a great spin on things.

Also talks about other politial based issues, such as major decisions, i.e when was it right and wrong to go to war. Overall a grat read thats very informative.

5.0 out of 5 stars Must buy for teenagers interested in politics., 9 Sep 2007
I truly informative read from the brilliant Bali Rai. Completly biased, and packed full of humor, Rai actually makes politics fun. Covering everything from immagration to taxes, the war on terror to the Monster Raving Looney party, i actually enjoyed reading about them all.

Rai explains every major party clearly and throughly, in a very uncomplicated manor, and every subject has footnotes and sources in case you want to read further on a subject.

Overall, a brilliant book, if the languge Rai uses is somtimes a bit corse, with Chris Riddell's amazing pictures realy bringing Rai's points to life. 12+. A must buy for teenager interested in Politics.
