Product Description

Product Description

Merging expressive cartoon network-esque illustrations with beautiful black and white photographs of Brooklyn, this funny story tells how Trixie and Knuffel Bunny's trip to the laundromat with Dad goes terribly wrong when Trixie realizes some bunny's been left behind...! Her attempts to alert Dad all the way home are unsuccessful, until Mum points out that Knuffel Bunny is missing and the family hotfoot it back to the laundromat. Fortunately, KB is safe, if a little wet...

5.0 out of 5 stars Suitable for all ages, 17 Aug 2006

I really enjoyed this this story of parental misunderstanding, and so did my son of three. His baby sister is just learning to talk and he was hysterical with laughter at Trixie's attempt to communicate and every time we read it shouts "Aggle Gaggle Flaggle" at the appropriate moment. I think the story is very easy for children of all ages to relate to: that your parents don't always understand you. There are lots of details my son picked out on multiple readings; the photos on the wall of Trixie's parents as backpackers, newlyweds, and then exhuasted new parents; that Americans say laundromat not launderette; the emotions on Trixie's daddy's face depicted so accurately. But fundamentally it works as a strong narrative of adventure, crisis, and redemption told with rhythym and repetition in a way children who are barely old enough to talk can enjoy.

Like all good texts it does work on several levels and from a parent's perspective it is so true and funny I guarantee you will laugh aloud in empathy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Flawless, 29 Jan 2008

A fan of Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus, I was delighted to find another Mo Willems book in our library. If it were possible, we like Knuffle Bunny even more. The artwork is contemporary yet accessible. The story is universal. There isn't a parent in the world who hasn't had to deal with a child "going boneless". What a perfect description of something so infuriating. Funny after the fact, though.

Adorable. Oh, and my kids love it too.

5.0 out of 5 stars My 2-year-old loves this book, 12 May 2006
By Dominique M. F. Olbert "dominique456" (Erlangen, Germany) - See all my reviews

I highly recommend this book. My two-year-old can't get enough of this story. She has a bunny of her own, like the girl in the story and completely identifies with it. She waves bye to Trixies mother when she and her father leave her to go to the Laundromat. When Trixie goes "Waaaa!", so does my daughter.

This book is visually engaging and thematically close to a small child's heart. The story is well-written, cleverly illustrated and deals with an interesting topic for children, the potential loss of a favorite toy.
