"For a child, it's a delirious formula... satisfyingly clean drawing style, even the same hilarious freak-out page where the pigeon just can't take it any more." New York Times"

5.0 out of 5 stars What luck!, 27 Jul 2004
Poor Pigeon. He has the good fortune of finding a hotdog. It's just sitting there. So what's the problem? (Special guest star) Little Duckling won't give Pigeon a moment's peace to eat the hotdog. "Does it taste like chicken?" Duckling asks. The discussion escalates until it is finally resolved with a happy ending and a fairly understated lesson. Mo Willems' lively pastel colored drawings are simple but still expressive. A thoroughly enjoyable, excellent book. Karen Woodworth-Roman

5.0 out of 5 stars simply brilliant!!, 2 Sep 2009

I bought this book for my sons 5th birthday and it very quickly became his favourite - and he has quite a substantial collection! He never fails to laugh out loud every time we sit down to read it (although that may be my attempt at a New York accent he's laughing at :-D) seriously though it really is a hugely entertaining read and the illustrations are simple yet brilliant..check out the facial expressions on the adorable pigeon. Don't hesitate to buy this one as it won't fail to appeal to your children, oh and check out 'Don't let the pigeon drive the bus' by the same author. 5 STAR!!!

1.0 out of 5 stars Disgusting, 4 Jan 2009

Pigeons Don't Eat Hot Dogs! Terrible Propaganda of Fast Food. Publishers should be ashamed to even let this book into the Public. Not a good influence for children. What if they started picking up food from the floor and eating it. Or asking to eat hot dogs and becoming obese. Don't buy, waste of money.
