I borrowed this book from the library a few months ago for my 1 year-old little boy and he loved it so much we bought him his own copy for Christmas!

It is a lovely first picture story book, with colourful illustrations throughout and only a handful of words which are all in speech bubbles, so you can elaborate the story as much, or as little, as you want to.

It tells the story of a young chimp called Bobo who, at the beginning of the story, is sad that is small and wants to be taller. He meets lots of his jungle friends and they all help him to become just a bit taller, but then a disaster happens and he realises that maybe it is better being small after all!

As I said before, my son loves this story and asks for it again and again!

The stories about Bobo monkey are a favourite with my little one. This story is told almost entirely in pictures with the exception of a handful of words - 'tall', 'small' 'Bobo', 'Mummy'. It's a fun book to 'read' as a first book because it is so visually led. Whatever trouble Bobo gets up to he can also rely on his mummy at the end and he makes friends with a variety of other animals.
