This magnificent project was inspired by Camille Saint Saene's famous "The Carnival of Animals", one of the most famous pieces of classical music written for children. Combining specially commissioned work by eleven acclaimed modern poets with riotous illustrations by Satoshi Kitamura, this package also includes a CD featuring each of the poems read aloud to the corresponding animal music. Let the carnival begin!
About the Author
Gerard Benson, Judith Chernaik and Cicely Herbert are practising poets and founders of the "Poems on the Underground" scheme which places poetry on London's tube network. The scheme has been adopted in many countries all over the world and has spawned hugely successful books. Satoshi Kitamura is a Mother Goose Award-winning author/illustrator, a prize awarded to the most exciting newcomer to children's book illustration (for "Angry Arthur"). He was born in Tokyo.
