Product Description

Product Description

Joining Haynes' growing stable of distinguished Porsche titles, this definitive volume tells the full story of Porsche's famed sports prototype and competition sports cars from 1953-1972. Authoritatively written and beautifully illustrated, it chronicles the 'giant-killing' years when Porsche was locked in combat with its arch rival Ferrari, and celebrates Porsche's victories at events such as Le Mans and the Targa Florio, and its excellent placings in other World Sports Car Championship events.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good, but bring on the next volume please...., 26 Jan 2009
By SUPER GT JUNKIE (Oxford, UK) - See all my reviews
A good book that does what it says on the cover - looks at Porsche's racers from the '50s and '60s. Typical Haynes high-quality layouts and glossy pages (much better than the similar book covering the same period produced by Veloce). But, Mr. Pritchard/Haynes, please can we have the next volume ASAP? Assuming there will be one, odd if not - after all, the '70s and '80s was Porsche's racing heyday, wasn't it? So can we please have a volume that covers the real icons, the 935s, 936s, 956/962s, etc.? The period covered by this particular book is a bit 'old' now, and on it's own seems a bit lonely...
