Product Description

Product Description
This is an awesome new series of novels featuring the fanatical female warriors of the Adepta Sororitas. When a dangerous psychic terrorist escapes from their custody, the Sisters of Battle not only have to hunt down and recapture him, but also need to restore their honour in the eyes of their superiors. Armed with determination, faith and the best training and weaponry the Imperium has to offer, the Sisters will let nothing and nobody stand in their way.

About the Author
James Swallow worked as a media journalist and author in his early twenties before moving onto a slew of books, including Ghost Town, Underworld, Iron Dragon and Showdown as well as being only British writer to have worked on a Star Trek television series. James also wrote scripts for the console games Battlestar Galactica and Star Trek Invasion, and audio dramas featuring 2000AD's future lawman Judge Dredd.

5.0 out of 5 stars Stellar novel!, 23 Mar 2006

Sister Superior Miriya of the Adepta Sororitas and her Battle Sisters are part of the Order of our Martyred Lady. Miriya's group is a Celestian squad. They are usually deployed for front line combat operations. Even though they are used to fighting at the heart of heretic confrontations and mutant uprisings, they do not balk when they are given a simple duty such as this one, a prisoner escort. Miriya's elite squad is the deliver Torris Vaun, a dangerous psychic heretic, to Lord Viktor LaHayn on the planet Neva.

Vaun had been locked up tight, sealed up, automatic gun mounts at ready, and guards placed around him, yet he still managed to escape. Seraphim Miriya is disgraced in the eyes of her fellow sisters and superiors. Miriya and her sisters follow Vaun to Neva with thoughts of capturing him and perhaps wreck a bit of vengeance. They end up uncovering a dark and horrible plot that could very well destroy the Imperium.

***** This is the only novel I have found that stars the Sisters of Battle. I certainly hope there will be more forthcoming. Battle is joined and blood has spilled before I even reached the second chapter. It remained full of action until the very end. Author James Swallow paints a vivid picture that pulled me in quickly and brought the story to life. Stellar novel! *****

5.0 out of 5 stars Girl power vs. psychic power, 3 April 2006

As far as I am aware 'Faith & Fire' is one of the first Warhammer 40,000 books to have the Adeptus Sororitas as the major characters and as the focus of the entire novel. 'Faith & Fire' is the story of Sister Superior Miriya and her Celestian squad as they follow the trail of an escaped psychic, Torris Vaun, who has escaped their custody. Joined by Sister Verity of the Orders Hospitaller, the Sisters of Battle must contend with aristocratic rebellion, numerous psykers and inflexible superiors, in order to bring Vaun to justice and save the Imperium.

This is the third book by James Swallow for the Warhammer 40,000 universe and is far better than his two Blood Angel books. 'Faith & Fire' is well passed and generally sticks to the established background of the Imperium. It is also good to see some strong female characters take the lead in this book, something generally lacking from all but a few 40K novels.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent read, 31 Mar 2006

This is the first 40K novel I have read and the story is great. You really get the feel of reality of being a Sister of Battle and the plot twist really makes you think about the role of the Emperor. I'd strongly recommend this to all Warhammer fans especially those who want to see some women fight along with all the men!
