About the Author
Andrew Cartmel was the script editor of the legendary science fiction epic Doctor Who before moving on to become senior script editor on another BBC hit, Casualty, which he helped to launch on its record breaking run. His television career also includes lead writer for the cult classic Dark Knight for Five. He has also scripted comics for 2000 AD and for Marvel UK, written a successful stage thriller End of the Night, and has published several novels, including The Wise.

I had never previously thought of writing a review on Amazon for any of the purchases I have made, until I read Swine Fever.

Having read and enjoyed the other Judge Dredd/2000Ad related novels from Black Flame (they have been as good as the previous Dredd novels from Virgin books were) I looked forward to reading Swine Fever.

However Swine Fever is not just a terrible Judge Dredd tale, but a truely appaling book in every sense. This has got to be the worst Judge Dredd story line from ANY of the formats in which they have been printed.
Dredd aficionados or fans read at your peril.
How was this author allowed to sully a character that has become as iconic as Dredd?
Remember the horrendous Stallone, Dredd film and how that really was a poor attempt at capturing the world of of Dredd on cellulous?
Well this is the literary equivalent.

"Dreddfull!"

Having loved all the other Judge Dredd Novels I was terribly disappointed by this book. The writing style is poor and the story is weak at best. The writer seems to have no knowledge about the charecters and fails miserably in his attempts to match the dark humour that is associated with the world of Judge Dredd. Definately not to be recommended.
If I could give this a minus mark I would. I am not normally one to write reviews but this book annoyed me so much I have even written to the publishers to express how woefull this authour is.
