Extraordinarily moving account of a young girl's courage in deciding to have a life-threatening operation on her brain, and in facing the intense physical and emotional pain surrounding the operation. It is not only inspirational to know what anxieties a person is capable of enduring when facing possible disablement, or even death, but it also opens up one's perception of the loneliness of fear, even when surrounded by a loving family and supportive friends. For a factual account it is extraordinarily engrossing and "page-turning"; you can't wait to find out whether or not the author is going to make a full recovery.
There is also some black humour provided by Sacha's brother and boyfriend trying to keep her spirits up through the ordeal. A thoroughly engaging and touching account of living through and surviving hell.
