Book Description
A High Fantasy Novel - The March Of The Band offers a different take on a world where mankind mixes with different races, sometimes in harmony more often in conflict. On this world years of warfare have taken civilisations and honed them. Where this story has focus, society has developed tactics and weaponry using base mechanics - springs, levers, gears and the like, using quality steel work to augment their trusty swords, spears and bows to give them a chance. They stand beleaguered by a relentless foe but not cowed and not forced into a belittled state but instead they have put all their hearts and minds to developing anything and everything at their disposal to improve their health, training and discipline and to that end, quality of life, and hence their strength to resist. In essence the pressure has squeezed out any fat of weakness, self indulgence and moral lassitude leaving a society setting in which true heroes can be found.

The March of The Band comes into camera on this setting, telling the story of a time when change is coming to the region governed by the Armies of the North. There these principled warriors sit surrounded by neighbours of various races and with differing politics and opinions on the need for resisting the encroaching enemy. It is the North who willingly shoulder the responsibility for defending the coast and as the story unfolds many of the varied characters who form the Northern society come into view as they are drawn into this time of change and conflict. In the Northern Army heroes of legend are those who survive long enough, through luck or skill or fate to become well known – which of those characters featuring in this book who may achieve such status only the reader will resolve for the action moves swiftly and all have their part to play as the war moves into a new compelling phase.

From the Author
My compliments to Pegasus Elliot Mackenzie, as publishers they have produced a fine looking book, large (trade) paperback in size and printed and bound with a quality feel that more than does justice to my work.

I hope you as potential readers will consider my work which reads simply but tells a story of grand conception. It has a conflict based theme where heroes come forwards to the challenge and some murky intrigue hints at tarnish to the sheen of the ideal martial society.

I suggest the story is suitable for ages 12 and upwards and hopefully I have managed to blend the heroics of high fantasy with the organisation of fantasy wargaming and a hint of historical precedence not unlike the industrial revolution.

Only you the reader can judge whether I have succeeded and I welcome your comments.
