Product Description

Book Description
"Freedom to carry out his plans was so close he could taste it, and it tasted good. It had the flavour of fine wine, sweet honey, exquisite candies, maple syrup, expensive perfume on a young boy’s neck…"

Mishtar wanted out. After two hundred years of captivity he’d found a way to escape the magic that bound him, and to smash it completely so that he could take his revenge on the peoples of Middle Vooragh.

What he hadn’t accounted for, however, was his unwitting assistant’s penchant for ale, women and his uncanny ability to screw things up. Throw in a cunning Sister of the New Dawn, the last wizard, a cretinous dwarf, a flying lizard and a big red dragon and maybe, just maybe, the world could be saved.

Oh! Did anyone mention cannibals?

About the Author
The author resides on a beautiful island in the middle of the Irish Sea. With unspoilt countryside, uncrowded beaches, magnificent scenery and enough hostelries to keep him happy, he couldn’t think of any better place to live. Although kept busy helping his wife, Carole, and two kids, Samantha and Michael, look after their menagerie, he still manages to find time to put down his illegible scribbles on tatty scraps of paper for later translation.

Reluctant Heroes is the author’s first published novel. If the reader has half as much enjoyment reading the book as the author did in writing it, it will have been worthwhile.

5.0 out of 5 stars Reluctant Heroes Rocks!, 7 Sep 2003
By A Customer
Reluctant Heroes is a book that was hard to put down. Once I started, I at once felt compelled to keep the cover pried open, eyes scanning frantically as the story unfolded long after my alarm clock begged me to get some sleep. Written in the style of Terry Pratchett and Robert Asprin, Reluctant Heroes left me wanting for more. I am eagerly awaiting Mr. Westcott's next book in the series. I highly recommend this title for any who like Pratchett or Asprin. It's nice to see a fresh voice in humorous fantasy! Rock on Mr. Westcott!

4.0 out of 5 stars A very enjoyable read, 19 Feb 2003
If you were asked to name an author who writes humourous fantasy novels your first thought might well be Terry Pratchett. In fact you may be hard pressed to think of any others worth mentioning. However, if Steve Westcott's next two books are of similar quali
