this was the first ever million dollar battle betwen the human brain and the top ranked chess computer program. grandmaster ray keene was present thruout the match reporting for the times and he gives a blow by blow account , backed up by authoritative analysis, of all eight games of the match. at first the human world champion vladimir kramnik soared into an apparently unstoppable lead but then he tired and the computer struck back. the match was drawn.

the book has facsimile score sheets, fotos of the main protagonists, and a brief history with games and comments of the previous matches between kasparov and deep blue.
