5.0 out of 5 stars Great book for chess enthusiasts, 26 Sep 2006
This book is endlessly entertaining and genuinely educational. Grandmaster and chess correspondent for The Times, Ray Keene, has produced a startling work in which readers may gauge their chess rating in the comfort of their own home. Keene's system is unique; the reader is awarded points not only for making the best move, but also for not making a mistake. The games included are also deliciously dramatic, with examples taken from Spassky, Tal and Alekhine and other great players. Of all the chess books out there, this is one of my upmost favourites.

5.0 out of 5 stars how good is your chess?, 21 Nov 2002
By A Customer
this is a carefully written collection of top games by leading players which awards real rating points for getting the right move. unlike other such books the author grandmaster ray keene also awards points for avoiding blunders.and the rating you end up with is comparable to genuine international ratings-not just a vague definition like expert or master or beginner! if you want to know how good your chess really is try this book!

5.0 out of 5 stars how good is your chess?, 11 Nov 2002

this is not a puzzle book-it is a book of complete games by champions and grandmasters where you are invited to work out the next move.the grandmaster author has calculated a system whereby you can get an estimate of your own chess ranking by guessing the moves correctly or avoiding errors.even if you dont want to calculate your rating the games are of high quality and well annotated so there is plenty to enjoy.
