5.0 out of 5 stars how petrosian became world chess champion, 22 Jul 2002
By A Customer
this book tells the story of the two month long marathon in moscow 1963 when tigran petrosian defeated mikhail botvinnik to become the 9th world champion.the author international master bob wade annotates every game in great detail and also publishes some little known training games of botvinnik which are absolutely fascinating.fans of endgames will love this book since petrosian played some of the most subtle endings seen at world title level-the 5th game is a classic in this respect.

5.0 out of 5 stars Botvinnik-Petrosian; Tactics Vs Strategy, 30 Jul 2002
By A Customer
Soviet Chess expert Bob Wade collects and annotates the tough games of the Botvinnik-Petrosian 1963 World Championship. In this volume, the exciting tension between the aggressor Botvinnik and the younger, more patient and persistent Petrosian is clear throughout. Wade examines the games expertly, providing a clear understanding of how Petrosian took the title from a supposedly unbeatable champion. A fundamental work.

5.0 out of 5 stars Petrosian's patience against the Soviet champion, 30 Oct 2005
This book is written with the close analysis of a writer who truly understands not only his subject, but the psychology behind the actions of its greatest characters. Such a level of skill and no less is what was required of a book that details the match between Botvinnik and Petrosian. The Soviet champion who dominated world chess from 1948 right up until 1963 was finally ousted by a much younger opponent, in a drawn out series of tactical masterpieces culminating in what could only be called a beautiful end game. Petrosian here is cast onto the scene with the style he would soon be known for mastering – patient, deliberate fencing, as though in an effort not so much as to win, but to force his opposition into defeat. Wade seems to be something of an expert on Soviet Chess, and his knowledge makes this a stimulating read.

Es un gran libro. Abunda muy poco en la literatura ajedrecística sobre este gran match.

Altamente recomendable!
