There used to be a prize (I forget its name!)awarded specifically for a book that managed to bring together a text and an illustrator in a particularly happy combination. POSY is just such a book. It's a poem about a cat accompanied by the most delicious watercolours by a newish young artist of enormous promise. Newbery is a novelist for children and young adults and has also written good books for the younger age group and this account of what a kitten is like is both true and delightful. This book will be enjoyed by every age group and I can't avoid calling it PURRFECT! I'm sure that is one word that will recur in many reviews.

This is one of the most beautifully illustrated books I've seen in a long time.

Buy this book if only to paw over the gorgeous pictures which complement the text in a wonderfully catty way.

A real treat for the eyes and a must for any book collection.
