5.0 out of 5 stars WOW!, 6 Nov 2005
By hannah (england) - See all my reviews
This is an amazing book and i couldn't put it down as it is so gripping. I felt Alices emotions the whole way through.
Although I was only 11 when i read it, it can be for all readers at least over 10. Any advice from me is READ IT!

3.0 out of 5 stars Sad, but quite similar to other books, 23 Oct 2006
I will be to the point: Brian Keaney is a good author, yet he is somewhat repetitive. I have previously read Bitter Fruit and they both seem to deal with cannabis and guilt from the main character after a close friend has died following an argument. However, if Where Mermaids Sing is your first Keaney novel, by all means read it. If you wish to read Bitter Fruit, by all means, read it. Just be prepared for a bit of disappointment when you finish reading them and the books are both pretty much the same. That said, Keaney does capture the angst and turmoil of being a teenager with friendship troubles very well. This book is probably suitable for 11+.
