5.0 out of 5 stars Giddy Goat, 7 Mar 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Giddy Goat (Hardcover)
This is one my children's favourites and mine too! I just love Lynne Chapman's illustrations. They are so unusual and the characters have such personality. Edmund the lamb is so cute and we all love Giddy Goat's big ears. The story is both funny and touching and the whole thing is truly something special!

5.0 out of 5 stars Giddy Heights of excellence!, 19 May 2005
This is quintessential Childrens entertainment. It may lack the complexity of Lauren Child or 'the Gruffalo' but it more than compensates by having a simple, pleasing narrative that teaches understanding and compassion but eschews the usual heavy handed, overly saccahrine approach that childrens stories often take.

The child I read this story to delighted in Giddy's gentle but rewarding adventure and i found much for the parental reader to enjoy and bring to life for the young eared reader.

So, though not a masterpiece, it remains a wonderful piece of entertaiment, lavishly illustrated that teaches not preaches and rewards the child and the adult.

Warmly reccomended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Giddy Goat, 28 Feb 2006
Giddy Goat is my favourite book ever. He is so frightened of heights that he runs away from home and sledges down the mountain in the middle of the night on a tea tray with his eyes closed and tied on with his scarf in case he comes off. The sheep that live at the bottom are horrid to him until he rescues a little lamb that is trapped on the mountain, which is really hard for him to do because of him being scared. But once he has done it he isn't so scared any more and the lamb and Giddy become best friends. It is a really good story and the illustrations by Lynne Chapman are fantastic. I really like the colours and Giddys wiggly scarf and Edmund the lamb.
