This new edition has been expanded from mini format to the larger B-format and includes a 16-page full-colour introduction, picking out the highlights of the city, with over 30 arresting photos. 4.0 out of 5 stars Tried and tested November 2005, 2 Feb 2006
By Miss Smith (United Kingdom) - See all my reviews
Great for independent travellers and a handy size for putting in your bag during the day, unlike the weighty whole country guidebooks. Maps at the back are very useful for general directions and easy to access when you’re in a rush. Information is highly readable, clearly laid out and for the most part accurate. Prices tend to fluctuate, although not far out, but should be taken with a pinch of salt for those on a tight budget. The book survived a couple of weeks of backpacking round Thailand without falling apart, unlike another reputable, but less used guidebook.

2.0 out of 5 stars If you are used to Lonely Planet's - Dont take this, 9 Mar 2007
By Jani Tiainen "Fintraveller" (Finland) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I wanted to try something new when travelled to Bangkok and got the Rough Guide. I have mostly had Lonely Planet's or Eyewitness guides (I am not saying they're the best in every place), but I have used to work with them - and experience with this new was really "rough". All the information is scattered around the book in very odd way - very hard to use. Some very essential information was not there at all... Perhaps better luck with Rough's in some other place.
