4.0 out of 5 stars Useful indentifcation guide for divers, 20 Mar 2006
By A Customer
Bought this for a diving trip to Malta. Covered most of the species seen whilst diving. The book contains a useful guide to the ecology of the species ranging from algae and corals to fishes and reptiles, with details of habitats, behaviour and food sources etc. A colour photograph of each species is accompanied by a short description - helpful for easy identification, though some of the photographs are not the best. Would recommend it to anyone visting that area of the mediterranean.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent reference, 24 Jun 2007
By A. Scarlett "AlastairScarlett" (London, UK) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I bought this prior to a recent holiday to Greece, where I made 3 dives. 99% of what I saw underwater was easily identifiable in the book.
Previous dives in Greek waters ahev been less interesting as I had no idea what was seeing.
I definitely recommend this to anyone planning to dive or snorkel in the Med - there's plenty of marine life out there if you just take the time to look for it. And this book will help you work out what you were looking at.

4.0 out of 5 stars ID Guide, 19 Oct 2009
By Amy (UK) - See all my reviews

Really good if you intend to go snorkelling or diving (however is not waterproof) well organised ID guide but overly comprehensive (but no id guide will have every species) also found the map and background information on the Med useful.

Used this on a uni field trip, and as an undergrad in Ecology found this id guide useful and glossy pages were durable when looking at rocky shore species.
