5.0 out of 5 stars "A MUST HAVE", 27 July 2005
By Mr. L. Edwards "El gordo" (Lincolnshire, England) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
A "Must Have" for two types of people:

Firstly those with any sort of responsibilty for others and secondly those working or travelling in the wilderness or high risk areas.

A great lttle refernce work. I saw the reviiew in the Telegraph review and bought a copy.
I have since bought a dozen to give to clients requiring security advice in unusual circumstances.

Whether headmaster or risk manger, overseas resident or humanitarian aide worker this is an essential component of the office or home reference library. Very useful.

Any parent worried about the safety of their teenage children during gap year backpacking to Asia ,Africa or Australia or where ever should give them one of these- because it covers all sorts of situations- not just terrorism- fire, first aid, avoiding robbery, security in overseas hotels and similar are all covered.

Intelligently written it puts the real terrorist threats into perspective. Knowledge is power- so read this.

I am not fond of the cheesy cover, and the slightly over dramatic use of pseudonyms to protect two of the co-writers
( get real) - but these are small complaints.
Overall an excellent little work.

5.0 out of 5 stars Essential Reading, 23 April 2005
By Tom Carter (London, England) - See all my reviews
I bought this book after reading an interview with the author in the Daily Telegraph. After many years spent working for national governments as a defence and political-risk consultant his knowledge is extensive and the book sets out everything you need to know about terrorism, sorting out fact from PR-spin. I travel alot myself and now feel much better prepared for any eventuality in this post-9/11 world. This is an important subject that everyone should be properly briefed on and the book sets out all one needs to know - essential reading therefore.
