Product Description

Product Description

Jacqui Jackson has seven children. Luke (author of "Freaks, Geeks and Asperger Syndrome") has Asperger syndrome, Joe has ADHD and Ben has autism. Life is anything but straightforward, but the chaos of the Jacksons' lives is threaded through with humour and common sense. Full of anecdotes, this title explains vividly what it is like to parent young people with such a range of conditions and provides helpful and creative advice for other parents and carers.

5.0 out of 5 stars I Love the jacksons, 9 Jan 2004
Jacqui Jackson can only be described as a purple glittery angel. she is a single mother with seven children, four of whom are autistic.this is not a sob story. this book aims to show parents that living with autism is all about embracing the positive, through reading the book she shows the strength she has had dealing with autism in the family.

the book has great tip sections on adolescence, holidays, sibling rivalry and all other factors involved in family life and in particular a family with autistic children.

this book is great for parents, siblings, professionals carers and gives a real insight into autism instead of spouting off facts and figures.

After all the parent is the professional on their child at the end of the day.
for anybody with a large family this is a must read, and for everybody else it is too!!! it is a modern parenting book for the 21st century!

5.0 out of 5 stars Extremely helpful, 13 Jul 2004
At last, a book on autism from someone who truly knows what it is like to live with day by day. I have found Jacqui's advice interesting and refreshing- I "only" have two children with autism but the tips and information in this book has helped me a lot and I can identify closely with Jacqui's situation- Well done.
