He isn't sure that he likes it, and once everyone starts to arrive, all dressed in pink and carrying pink presents, he thinks that Lily would prefer him if he were pink. He gets so miserable, that he creeps away. But Lily misses him, and comes to find him. "I love blue, and I love you!" she says, and she changes into a completely blue outfit, to show him she means it.

Blue kangaroo shares his birthday with Lily. However on the big day, he feels left out and unwanted when Lily seems to just want everything to be pink. He goes to desperate lengths to try to make himself pink, but in the end Lily realises how he feels...
My 5 year old daughter loves this book. I too love reading it to her.

This is a fabulous book. We have most of the Blue Kangaroo books but this one has captured my two year old's attention the most. Lily's birthday party, friends, presents and cake are all in pink and poor Blue Kangaroo feels incredibly left out. My daughter gets very sad for him as he frets on the sidelines. There's a lovely ending- Lily changes into blue to match her favourite kangaroo. A book with a heart, Lily just wants to be with her Blue Kangaroo.
A real favourite- we've actually lost the book at the moment, it's been used so much. We strongly recommend it.
