Halibut Jackson is a very shy person. He prefers not to be noticed at all. So he makes himself clothing to match his surroundings. His library suit has a striped look to it to match the shelves. But when he is invited to a party at the Palace, he is flummoxed - what does it look like in the palace? At last, having researched hard, and sewn quickly, he is ready: only to discover when he gets there that the party is a garden party. A suit of silver and gold, covered in jewels, is definitely going to get noticed! But everyone admires it tremendously!


About the Author

David Lucas was born in 1966, in Middlesbrough, in the north of England. He grew up in Hackney, in east London, and studied illustration at the Royal College of Art. He lives and works in central London. This is his second published picture book.

Halibut Jackson is shy. He doesn't like to be noticed and he likes to blend into the background. In the first half-dozen pages, Halibut is wearing appropriately camouflaged outfits and your child (from 2 and a half) will delight in spotting him, leaning against a wall in a brick-patterned coat or strolling through the park in a more floral number. Halibut is invited to a party at the glitzy palace and he carefully plans a new bejewelled suit to wear against a backdrop of gold and silver palace décor. However, despite all his best laid plans to remain in the background Halibut is outed as the best dressed guest and becomes a popular and busy tailor. A lovely picture book that's sure to become a perennial favourite.

A beautiful book for adults and children alike.Children will have fun spotting Halibut on every page, and adults will enjoy the subtle,thought-provoking messages.
