Book Description
This is the true story of a Royal Marine wounded by shrapnel in Mandalay who undergoes a long solitary march to flee the Japanese and finds his way back through India to Britain. On his way he has many encounters and adventures and helps British and Indian refugees. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

About the Author
James Leasor was educated at The City of London School and Oriel College, Oxford. In World War II he was commissioned into the Royal Berkshire Regiment and posted to the 1st Lincolns in Burma and India, where he served for three and a half years. His experiences there stimulated his interest in India both past and present and inspired him to write such books as Boarding Party (filmed as The Sea Wolves). He later became a feature writer and foreign correspondent at the Daily Express. There he wrote The One that Got Away, the story of the sole German POW to escape from Allied hands. As well as non-fiction, Leasor has written novels, including the Dr Jason Love series, which have been published in 19 countries. Passport to Oblivion was filmed as Where the Spies Are with David Niven. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

5.0 out of 5 stars one hell of a read!!!!!, 17 Nov 2006
This book turns into quite a page turner the absolute horror of not only having to walk 800 miles out of the jungle but being wounded by deep gashes on both ankles makes it beggar belief!!!
such a tale as this surely deserves a better title

beyond belief, and courage would do for starters
