Product Description

Book Description

When film tycoon, Sir Robert Hellier, loses his daughter to heroin, he declares war on the drug pedlars. London drug specialist, Nicholas Warren, is called in to organise an expedition to the Middle East, in an attempt to track down the big-time dope runners, inveigle themselves into their confidence and make them an offer they can't refuse. No expense is spared in the plans for their capture, but with a hundred million dollars worth of heroin at stake, the 'spoilers' must use methods as ruthless as their prey.

About the Author

Celebrated for his fast-paced stories and attention to detail, thriller writer Desmond Bagley was born in the Lake District and spent his early working life in the aircraft industry, before his adventurous spirit took him on an exciting road trip to South Africa, where he settled as a freelance journalist and film critic. His first novel, The Golden Keel was an instant success, and he went on to write a further fifteen gripping stories, which have been translated into more than 20 languages.

5.0 out of 5 stars THE INCOMPARABLE MR BAGLEY, 12 Mar 2001
By A Customer
Although the incomparable Mr Bagley died nearly 20 years ago his work is still taut and exciting. The Spoilers is another fast-paced, incredibly well researched story. For any Bagley fans still out there, check out John Templeton Smith's work (he also wrote under plain John Smith) - Bagley was Smith's mentor in the years before he died. Smith obviously learned at least one important lesson from Bagley - research, research, research. Both authors leave no stone unturned in their pursuit of excellence.

4.0 out of 5 stars A fantastic entry in to the world of Desmond Bagley, 2 Feb 2001
By A Customer
This is the first of Desmond Bagley's books that I have read. It is one of the best written books I have ever read and it made me read a whole host of his books. It has a fantastic structure to it and the best thing about it is that you never know what is coming next. Once you read this one you will be hooked on Desmond Bagley for life... The best book I have ever read by far. Read it!
