2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing- could have been much better, 29 Nov 2001
By Languagelover (Manchester, England) - See all my reviews
I was looking forward to the insights to be gained from Andi Bell, a former world memory champion. I have to say that I am very disappointed with this very expensive booklet (at 72 pages in total with lots of pages of diagrams and a page of notes at the back) and the accompanying items (a small bean bag, some cards and a board game).

Where to start? The booklet is weak, starting off with things like moving funiture to remember that you need to do something. This is the purpose of the bean bag you are given, he recommends that you throw it on the floor and when you see it you will remember what you need to do!

I found the style of Andi's writing difficult to read and there are lots of things that could have been explained in more depth. Perhaps this booklet was a rush job?

Unfortunately I can't recommend this pack, at the current cost it simply isn't worth it. An improvement might be to sell the booklet alone at a much reduced price, this would then be of interest as general reading for those of us interested in training our memory.

If you want to get something that will teach you the tricks of the trade in more depth I would recommend the books of Dominic O'Brien, particular the early ones 'How to Develop a Perfect Memory' and 'How to Pass Exams' or ideally the linguaphone course if you can get hold of it...
