Product Description

Product Description

A small-format guide to Brussels that explores the best things to do and see in the limited amount of time that a weekend allows. Divided into three major parts, the first explores the city's life and character through its culture and lifestyle, the second contains an area-by-area guide to the most interesting parts of the city and the third is a detailed shopping guide organised according to category. The guide gives recommendations for sight-seeing, eating and drinking and shopping and provides addresses and opening times to accompany each recommendation. All the essential practical information is given on such matters as transport, voltage, the currency and language.

1.0 out of 5 stars This book was a waste, 15 April 2002
By A Customer
There was no useful map of Brussels. Had to find another one to get around. There is no historic/relevant information about the spectacular palaces and buildings in and around Brussels. No information about the Atomium apart from the nearest Metro station and minimal about the buildings in the Grand Place and places to visit in the Grand Place,eg the Beer Museum and the Chocolate Museum. Great for a shopping guide, but rubish for anyone who wants to learn about Brussels and its history.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is a great little book!, 19 Nov 2001
By A Customer
I thoroughly recommend this guide book. It has accurate descriptions of all of Brussels attractions and gives you great information for such a short time away! It gives you a locals guide to a city, and the authors and contributors clearly knew the place very well. It really helps you plan your 2 days and spend the time in places that suit your needs.
The restaurant and bar section is excellent and we chose brilliantly for the three meals we had there because the little book is so good!
We are off to Amsterdam around Christmas, and I will definitely be buying the book in the same series as I know it will give me honest reviews of places and accurate descriptions to ensure I use the time efficiently.
I do recommend you accompany it with a detailed map of the City (which is very confusing!), but the maps inside are adequate if you are using taxis!
All in all, with this book (and the right company!) you will truly have a great weekend!

4.0 out of 5 stars Just what I needed for my short visit, 23 Nov 2001
An excellent little book. Written with enthusiasm for the subject, it is full of interesting items, useful practical hints and excellent shopping tips. Add to this the abundance of photos and illustrations and the low price, it's a real must-buy for any newbie planning a few days in the city. I would have awarded five stars if there had been a better map.
